Living Conversations: The Power of Dialogue in our Communities: The ASACCU Conference Comes to Boston College

Boston College will host the 2011 Association of Student Affairs at Catholic Colleges and Universities (ASACCU) Conference.  The Conference will take place July 26-29, 2011.

ASACCU was founded in 1999 by a group of student affairs practitioners working at Catholic colleges and universities in the United States.  The purpose of the organization is to provide an opportunity for communication and colleagueship among student affairs professionals who work at Catholic institutions.  Through the annual conference, activities, and website, ASACCU provides members with opportunities to deepen their understanding of the Catholic tradition as it applies to their professional practice, and to network with student affairs professionals and others who work at Catholic colleges and universities.

The ASACCU conference in 2011 will be the 11th to provide a unique opportunity for student affairs professionals to come together to learn about the Catholic contexts in which we do our work and to engage in lively, provocative, and constructive conversation about what it means to do our work informed by a Catholic vision and mission.

This year’s conference theme is: “Living Conversations: The Power of Dialogue in our Communities.”  The theme invites student affairs professionals working at Catholic colleges and universities to imagine the particular contexts in which we do our work as part of a larger Catholic culture complete with its own “language”  and “org chart” and the work we do as series of conversations, or dialogues: with students, with other Catholic institutions, with our colleagues across our universities, with our institution’s leadership, with our local communities, with broader culture, and with people from diverse religious, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds.

Stay tuned for registration details.  We look forward to seeing you in July!
